  1. Yay. Jenks should be a good option in the bullpen, now if we sign Wheeler, then I think the bullpen is set.
  2. Well at least it's a minor league contract.
  3. Sign somebody FFS, with a ERA below 4 preferably! There done, it will happen now...
  4. I knew I was forgetting someone.
  5. Who do we have under contract already in the bullpen? I know I'm forgetting someone... papelbon bard wakefield doubront possibly?
  6. I wouldn't want him back to be honest. If he did come back, I would hope he could be straightened out to where he use to be.
  7. He used to be good, but he's been crap since going to Cleveland.
  8. I was a bit surprised the other day when I heard we were interested in Joe Blanton. Obviously that has fallen through and we have publicly said it wasn't going to happen, but I thought we'd turn our attention strictly to the bullpen now. If we were to sign or trade for any starting pitcher that we know is available, I would rather we go after Matt Garza. Not sure what he'd cost us, but if Dice-K is the guy we would lose, it wouldn't make sense for TB since they are trying to shed payroll at the moment. With that said, I'm fine with Dice-K being the 5th starter at the moment and really hope we start to bring in some decent relievers.
  9. Hilarious, Didn't see this one coming...
  10. Damn right!
  11. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/red_sox/index.php/2010/12/11/crawford-i-think-my-heart-is-in-boston/ Gotta love his 6 year old son.
  12. I checked Varitek and he was at 20%. Salty only had 6 games in the bigs last year so his percentage is inaccurate, but he threw out 1 runner in 7 attempts.
  13. All I could find is through the mlb website and you have to calculate out the % yourself. They give you SB's against a catcher and CS as well. With that you can calculate it out yourself. Russell Martin last year had 43 SB's against him last year and threw out 27 runners. 27 / 43+27 = 38.57% V-Mart was 21.43% last year Is this right? http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable_player_stats.jsp?teamPosCode=2&statType=3&timeFrame=1&Submit=Submit&c_id=mlb&subScope=pos&sitSplit=&venueID=&baseballScope=mlb&=&timeSubFrame=2010&&sortByStat=CS

  15. I read somewhere that Martin would be signed most likely on a 2 year contract if they sign him. I wouldn't mind, if he does bad we can always drop him assuming his contract is worth mega bucks and bring Salty back up.
  16. After this deal, I wonder how many relievers that we have offered contracts to will opt to sign with us simply because we look like a team destined to win something next year. I hope that is the case, would be awesome to sure up the bullpen with some great relievers for once.
  17. I just woke up and saw the news. Holy crap, I can't believe they actually went out and got him for that money. I really like Crawford and even if he does lose a bit of his speed he will still be valuable and faster than everybody in our lineup.
  18. In case anybody was wondering why the sox were not there earlier.
  19. Seconded. Thought it would be for more than that.
  20. Thought it was interesting the little bit about Varitek not officially being signed yet. Could you imagine if they signed Martin and basically told Varitek his services wouldn't be needed anymore after supposedly agreeing to a deal for the next year? Doubt it would happen, but don't see why we would have 3 catchers on the roster either.
