  1. ERA is the most overrated stat for a pitcher. Look at his peripherals or just stop talking.
  2. He won't be a starter, he would have went somewhere else if that's what he wanted.
  3. He had his best K rate yet last year.
  4. Why would they do that? Bard is already the successor in waiting. He's simply the set up man to the set up man.
  5. Jon Heyman, you silly beaver.
  6. What prevents the Red Sox from doing this but promising him the job a year earlier?
  7. It's not about the money, it's about the years. These aren't elite closers. Giving three years to 7th inning relievers is questionable. They are up and down game to game and month to month, let alone season to season.
  8. Crain and Fuentes, please.
  9. The 2003 World Series will soon be theirs! http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5920322
  10. John Heyman just on WFAN said to get King Felix, Yanks would have to give up AT LEAST Hughes/Cano, Joba, Montero, AND Betances. Hint: Not happening.
  11. I think Lee just looked at the Red Sox lineup, and said no thanks.
  12. SI_JonHeyman yankees have been told they're out of cliff lee sweepstakes
  13. Joba (aka the real life kenny powers)
  14. I'll ask it again, will Yankees go 7/175? They did offer 25 mil AAV on the 5 year offer. That would also give him a bigger contract than CC. Not sure how he would feel about that.
  15. Theo has already offered Guerrier. That has been reported.
  16. Yeah, I read that on ESPN too. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=5909611 Just guarantee the 7th year, Texas. It sounds like this is the only hold up to him going back there.
  17. First reliable info I've heard today ... from a YES employee Question: Do you go to 7/175 if you're Cashman? They did offer $25M AAV for 5 years. I'd say no because they have to keep it at CC's AAV or lower. Also, he's a pitcher. 7 years @ 25MM for something so fragile as a pitcher? Just say thank you for listening and do your job as a GM, visit different options. If they have no Plan B, I think it is an indicator how badly the Yankees were prepared for this off-season.
  18. Did anyone even follow Twitter back then?
  19. I read somewhere that between NYC and NY state taxes, you'd have to take off another 10% off a Yankee salary. 10% of 161 million is 16.1 million. So if that's true, then the deals, in terms of real money, look more like this: Yankees - Rangers 5/112.5 - 5/100 6/129.6 - 6/120 7/144.9 - 7/140 I'm assuming Texas didn't bump up the AAV. So if you're trying to decide between NY and Texas, and the price difference is $4.9 million in real dollars, is that amount enough to sway Lee? It's a lot closer than people think.
