  1. I left to clear the dishes and clean-up the Kitchen and it's now 4-0 Texas? Did someone hit a homer? What the f***?
  2. We'll see right now. Not so far.
  3. How many pints are you up to tonight? I've had two shots of vodka.
  4. My favorite Dominican! Crack one open and enjoy the game.
  5. Just got back from picking-up my Daughter and a brief appearance at Stop& Shop. I'm tardy. Glad the rain has not delayed the game. Good evening all.
  6. Rain will be a problem tonight.
  7. If any of Johnson's relatives are alive, they should sue for defamation.
  8. I'm sure you can prove me wrong here. I SHOULD have said, Johnson's appeared average pitching against the Sox. That is all I based my comments on. Maybe you're right. I still think he is nothing special (other than 300 wins and a LONG career). And he has been nothing special in the last half decade.
  9. I'm not aware of his numbers last year. What were his solid numbers? How about the last four years?
  10. I can't make a "rational" argument here. Pedro appears done, and yes, he won't take a minimum deal. I saw him pitch in the WBC and figured he was still able to play in the majors. I watched him dominate for so long and during the same time Johnson seemed to be so average. Johnson is just hanging on. Pedro could probably do just as well and I believe (based on what I've seen of him lately) better.
  11. Yes I would. Even with Pedro's recent physical problems, I believe he has much more heart and desire. And, I think he is smarter. Neither player has their best stuff at this stage of their careers. That's why I'd give the ball to Pedro. More desire and character. Both have lousy hair, by the way. I feel I have to back-up what I said. I don't have numbers to help me here. Just my objective assessment based on what I've seen of both. Johnson has had the advantage of physical superiority, but Perdro has demonstrated an ability to compete AND dominate with far less physical strength (smaller and slight of build). Just watching Pedro's efforts you could tell that he was more motivated to excel than Johnson. Heart can't be assessed by some Sabermetric. That's what I think, anyway.
  12. Ha ha ha ha! Johnson has always been an ass. 6'10" and bringin' the heat. Big deal. He was dominant 8-10 years ago but has been below average to average in recent years. 300 wins is a big deal nowadays. Congrats to him for milking it for long enough. I'd take Pedro over him right now.
  13. Put him on the DL? For what? He is what he is. A .500 pitcher. Shmoltz has done nothing to prove he is superior as yet. Buckholtz has proven that he can not sustain a high level of performance in the big leagues. Wake may not be a sure thing, but he is a known commodity. Back/shoulder problems are not part of the equation at the moment. I have come to like Penny. But he is probably gone. Along with some minor league talent. So be it. Next.
  14. I think I suggested an eye exam about the time I joined the board in mid-April. Ortiz says that he is required to have them examined once a year and that he is 20/20. I don't think his eyes are the problem. But if I had so much invested in him I would have taken care of this several weeks ago. I think most of his problems are "Mental". He is pretty much the same lumbering big guy that he has been for years. I don't buy into the idea that he has had a precipitous decline in his ability simply because he is getting on in years. That has something to do with it, to be sure. One thing is clear, there is no easy solution to this slump. Sox will hang with him 2-3 more weeks. Then it's time fore the pine. By the way, Jim Rice was a much better hitter throughout his career than Ortiz has ever been. People have short memories.
  15. This rumor can not possibly have any merit. Some internet dweeb who's Mother confiscated his Hustler and High Society stash has nothing left to do but start a totally idiotic rumor. Celt's defiantly have needs to be addressed, though.
  16. I don't have data to substantiate my statement but I suspect the only actual "Lucky" force on the GT is Pasta Mojo. It seams to always work.
  17. See you guys later. Have to pick up my Daughter. Peace.
  18. My heart skipped a beat when that ball was hit to Lugo for the 3rd out. WIN!!!
