  1. No, I don't want to part with Ellsbury or Buccholz, but I also don't want to see Santana pitching for the Yankees.
  2. The thought of the Skanees having Santana makes me cringe.
  3. Did you even read the report? When he went to Toronto, his strength and conditioning trainer supplied him with steroids. He is reported to have continued to use steroids through to his time with the Astro's. A coincidence that he became dominant again after taking steroids?
  4. You know, Dan Duquette was completely right. Everyone has ripped him and laughed at him for letting Clemens go. The guy was right. Clemens just became a filthy cheating whore. I guess we all owe him a bit of an apology.
  5. If Pujol's is on the report, It's going to be a sad day.
  6. I can't believe that the deal is just Lester, Materson, and Kalish. I just can't. I'll believe it when/if it's official.
  7. I really really really don't want to part ways with Ellsbury, so lets hope it is still Crisp.
  8. I'll believe it when it is officially announced. I don't want to get my hopes up.
  9. I think it ridiculous how many rules modern day sports are implementing. The NFL is turning into the no-fun league and has the worst officiating crews in all of sports. MLB has been pretty bad in regards to what you can and can't wear, and now this crap.
  10. According to ESPN, the Red Sox are talking to the Twins about aquiring Santana. Right now ESPN is reporting that the framework for the package would be Coco Crisp, John Lester, Jed Lowrie, and one more prospect (it's believed that they are discussing Bowden). How accurate is this?
  11. Yea, I wasn't expecting them to get BOTH of them though. I'm fine if they get one, but both would hurt.
  12. The Yankees are interesting in signing Lowell to play 1B. They are close to signing Arod, if they manage to sign Lowell too things could get ugly. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3111752
  13. Barry Bonds is indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Balco trials in 2003. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3112487
  14. Lowell Lowell Lowell. BUT if we don't get lowell, then Arod. Because there isn't much else besides them.
  15. Why!!! I can't stand this. Keep baseball in the US. If the Japanese want to watch live American baseball, make them come to America. The same goes for football. This is getting ridiculous.
  16. Sox Fan just hit the nail on the head. Sabathia had 4 more starts than Beckett. Beckett was better PER START than Sabathia. On MLB.com they made a big point about run support. I don't see how it is relevant in this case. Beckett had 1 more win in 4 less starts than Sabathia, while giving up the same amount of runs per inning. I would give the edge to Beckett.
  17. I agree that the award should be based on the regular season, but the fact is that Beckett faced Sabathia in the playoffs. Beckett dominated and won both games, Sabathia got lit up. If Sabathia didn't pitch in the playoffs, than this comparison is moot. If Sabathia pitch well in the playoffs, as well as Beckett, the comparison is moot. But the fact is that Sabathia faced Beckett in the playoffs, when the games matter the most, and Beckett dominated while Sabathia got lit up. I just don't think you can ignore that. I guess I'm just surprised that wasn't in the back of the voters heads.
  18. I'm just a bit disappointed. I think their Playoff performances should have been considered. Beckett had a better TOTAL season. Playoffs are the most important part of the year. Sabathia sucked and Beckett dominated. I think that easily gives Beckett the edge.
  19. I really hope Mikey isn't gone.
  20. I think our SS probably should have stopped at Renteria or Gonzo. I liked Gonzo at SS. To tell you the truth, I believed in Coco. I'd really like to know just how much his wrist injury in 06 effected his swing and confidence.
  21. Hawk, the thing you are missing is that teams general trade to improve an ASPECT of a team. In our case, it was pitching. Tell me, how does Hanley make our pitching better?
  22. AJ Burnett can stay on the Jays. I'll take Beckett over him every day of the week.
  23. You're right about there being a money value, but because we can spend more money than everyone (but the Yankees), we have far more options. But again, I am a believer that great pitching is harder to come by and more important than great hitting. Anyways, coming into the 06 season, our lineup wasn't too bad. Its not like Hanley was the answer to the need for more pop... And we were in need of some top pitching.
  24. Because Beckett was a far better option than any available FA pitching. And guess what, it turned out that Theo was right about that...
  25. Last time I checked, we have a huge payroll to work with. I'm pretty sure that this team doesn't really have to worry about money to that extent... And part of the argument is our needs. The lineup wasn't really in need of a Hanley type of player. We now have Ellsbury to take that type of roll. I think its far more important to have a true Ace of the pitching staff, plus a good 3B, defensively and offensively, than a great SS. Our lineup really just needs a bit more pop. Hanley wouldn't really provide that. Again, I would LOVE to have him on this team, but with Ellsbury taking over in CF and likely becoming our leadoff hitter, he isn't as Necessary to this team as Beckett is.
