  1. I think the Counsell idea is the best. He has a decent glove and speed. It would give us and even more experienced infield with Loretta, Counsell, and Lowell. Plus we might be able to get him cheap if Drew force the Diamondbacks to bring him up.
  2. Didn't see one of him so thought i would start one. Scouting Report: Baker can hit the mid 90s on the radar gun, though he more comfortably pitches in the low 90s and is generally not an overpowering thrower. He has a quick deceiving release. His curveball is also a plus pitch, and he brings poise to the mound. He works down in the strike zone, getting groundouts and keeping the ball in the park. He could improve the consistency of his secondary pitches, which also include a changeup. Baker tallied up 27 saves for Potland in 2005. Now in Pawtucket.
  3. Last I heard Loretta was 35,000 down.
  4. Josh is expected to sign with the Sox. Had to prove everyone wrong when he walked on at North Flordia and now he'll have to do it again.
  5. Here are some good interviews with Jason McLeod(Director of Amateur Scouting) about the draft, via Red Sox Nation. (I can't put a link in yet so your going to have to type it in)redsoxnation.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=21363 redsoxnation.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=21369
  6. One of the main reasons why he is compared to Nixon(besides the skills is because he has made a commitment to play football in college(like Nixon). But, the Sox were able to show him the money(I think it is around 500,000-700,000) and he will sign with them. Place and Kalish could form a bond, while moving up the system together, in the outfield.
  7. This was a great pick for the sox at this part of the draft. He was rated the 41st best player in the graft by Baseball America. Some thought he would be a first rounder and most of the others thought he would be a definite 2nd round pick. He is powerful, patient and has awesome bat speed. This along with a great frame at 6-5 205 makes him a prototypical 1st basemen. "LaPorta and Lars Anderson are supposed to be hard to sign" Anderson wants 1 mil, He is the obvious first choice if they had to decide between him and Laporta. "I would expect that both could go back to school to improve their draft stock for next season." Actually Josh is expected to sign with the Sox.
