Lin Kalish Reddick Westmorland Hissey Place Hell, even guys like Jeff Bailey and Chris Carter are better "prospects" than Sumoza. Yes he's talented but it's a lotto ticket. Really is a win-win for both sides.

Because for the Red Sox's needs right now Kotsay fits. This team is making another serious run at a WS title and Sumoza was maybe the 8th best OF prospect in the system or so. Kotsay is what the Sox need right now until Drew gets back healthy.

Probably for the same reason Giles didn't want to come here...we were pretty set in the OF with Drew/Nixon, Ellsbury/Crisp/Damon, and Ramirez.
