Put aside the fact that I can't stand Bonds..let just look at what would happen if he came here. At the plate he is a shell of his former self and can't be counted on for 40HR's. Also think about what would happen to our outfield with manram in right (no place to pee) and bonds roaming left with a wheel chair...not to mention coco's laser arm in center! I don't think it's worth the risk to try and get bonds, get the drew deal done!

Sad to see him go....three of my favorite moments were: -knocking in roberts to tie the game in the 04 alcs game 4 -the homer to win it during the infamous "punch arod in the mouth" game---which was the turning point of the season some say! -the 2 grand slams in one game. one from the right side and one from the left--he is the only player to do this! I would love for them to bring Millar back to come off the bench. (although i have always wanted him here and thought he played a vital role) I think after playing in baltimore for a year he would gladly be a bench player for free in boston! Millar was a key part of our 04 run. Don't take my word for it, but look what the players said. In a lot of clips, ect... after it was all over they kept talking about how loose the clubhouse was (they attribute mainly to millar and damon) and that they just loved to come to the ballpark. (newsflash, we don't have that demeanor anymore) They would also talk about the ALCS and how even down 0-3 millar would not let anyone get down but just kept saying "don't let us win tonight" Millar would be an ok replacement off the bench, however his contributions off the field is why they would bring him back if they do. He also takes pressure off the rest of the players who don't like talking to the media as he's always in the media's face. I don't see what goes on in that clubhouse, as i assume most of us don't---however i will take the players word that he made that much of a difference. Youk is our 1st baseman, but let Millar back him up----i mean look who we had as bench players this year:rolleyes: Ohh and for anyone who doesn't think he comes through in the clutch--please just look back to game 4 in the 04 ALCS. Remember when dave roberts stole 2nd. (which tito says is the biggest play of the playoffs) Well if Millar hadn't had gotten on 1st against mariano then none of that would have happened. To draw a walk in that situation, against mariano was clutch.

It was obvious the sox thought of this as a "rebuilding year" (they wanted to win, but not at any cost--they would rather look toward 07 and beyond).....with that said we were still in first place until we had a string of injuries that, from everyone i heard speak about it, they had never seen the likes of before. The sox basically lost 80% of their starting lineup and most of their staff. They couldn't overcome that (who could), and they were not built to overcome it. The yanks however went into the postseason healthy and rested with their staff setup the way they wanted. They just couldn't get it done, and will probably have the same team next year!

The tigers looked a little too confident and glowing after their win last night. I didn't see one interview where they talked about today's game--everything was focussed on how well they did last night....let's hope they can forget about yesterday and finish the job!
