    Konerko said in the Chicago papers that he would either stay in Chicago or go west. I'd love to keep him in Chicago, because he and Buerhle are the heart of the team, from a leadership standpoint. That said, the White Sox always go cheap. Boston doesn't need more hitting. They need pitching and "different" hitting ..... get somebody on in front of the 3-4-5-6 hitters .... bunt, slap, whatever. That's what the White Sox did a lot of this year. We don't have a .300 hitter on the team. Pitching, defense, "get-em-on/get-em-over/get-em-in" is going to be the way to win in the steroid-less era. Don't wait for the long ball because it ain't coming !

    Let's revisit the prediction - A White Sox Fan prediction - White Sox 6 Red Sox 3 Garcia gets hit a little early, settles down, and shuts down Red Sox Wakefield gets shelled in the fourth inning Ortiz and Ramirez hit SOLO home runs Garcia keeps baserunners to a minimum - solo homers don't kill Podsednik goes 3 for 4 Konerko (bat) / Crede (glove) have big games So far, I think I'm doing pretty good. Let's keep it up !!!!

    Yes we have been patient. Actually don't know any other way to act because no one alive remembers winning a world series. And the north siders have been waiting longer. I can't speak for all White Sox fans, but our offense struggles so much to score runs making our margin for victory razor thin. We have a real good record in close games BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN IN SO MANY OF THE DAMN THINGS ! ! Our pitching staff has been phenomonal, but our offense is non-existent much of the time (go ahead, find a 300 hitter in our lineup).     I still think Freddy Garcia will hold the Red Sox to 3-4 runs. He has a habit of giving them up early, then holding from that point on. If he limits the damage in the first 2 innings, the White Sox will be fine. I also expect to beat Wakefield up a little, the second time around the lineup (first time will be the adjustment period). Most of the White Sox runs will come in innings 4-5-6. As far as Comiskey Park goes, 25-30 years ago it was a really bad neighborhood. Now they've knocked down all of the bad stuff and made it White Sox parking lots, which, oddly enough, was an improvement.

    Here's hoping that we DON'T get rained out so that I can watch the game at home instead of on a 3x3 inch screen at work. But there's a chance it doesn't go to Saturday.

    So far, good pitching has allowed a 3.00 ERA. And the White Sox pitching is some of the best in baseball. As long as we don't allow Marte or Vizcaino in. Those guys are instant death. Vizcaino faced 2 batters in one game last week and hit both of them..... on a grand total (I think) of 4 pitches. Jenks often pitches more than 1 inning to close a game (I think someone asked that earlier).

    It's about pitching and defense. Good pitching stops good hitting. And the White Sox have good pitching.

    Buehrle pitched a game earlier this year in an hour and a half. He's not one of those scratch and rub and play-with-your-hat kind of guys.

    Boston's got the ex-cub factor working against them. Clement and Bill Mueller. We've only got Garland, and most of the cub stench has worn off. I hope that the Red Sox can come down with a case of "cubness".

    We (WhiteSox) miss Frank Thomas. The third spot was his. We've been trying to fill it all year.

    The "we" was the White Sox (hence the parens). The White Sox pitching will hold Boston to 3-4 runs. If the White Sox score 5 or more, the White Sox will win. That's what I meant. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

    Go White Sox If White Sox score 5 or more, White Sox win If White Sox score 3-4 , it's anybody's game less than 3, we're ( White Sox ) toast You guys better figure out how to keep Podsednik off the bases ! I'd like to see the White Sox bunt a lot so that the portly Mr. Wells has to get off the mound to field the ball.
