  1. Beckett is really letting me down, what the hell is going on with him?
  2. Manny might be the MVP this year, look at his numbers! its insane. If Ortiz doesn't win because of the absurd DH hating, Manny is the strongest candidate out there.
  3. If I were the Sox, I'd take a hard look at an Nixon for Abreu trade if I could immediately swing Abreu to the Angels for pitching like speculated. I'd take a look at Jeremy Affeldt too
  4. Alright guy, calm down. I didn't intend to offend you. Relax, breathe. I completely agree with you, no need to butt heads.
  5. Exactly, have some calm about Lester guys. Never compare him to Chacon again, Chacon is washed up, Lester is 22. Most 22 year olds have control issues. They over throw. He'll come into a groove sooner or later.
  6. Maybe its a salary dump it makes some sense but I'm inclined to not want to mess with the dynamic of a so-far-sucessful offense. I would give second tier AA or AAA pitching. Alvarez, Chris Smith, etc. Not any of the guys currently up, or any of the guys in A ball like Bowden.
  7. Young pitching for old hitting is retarded. Taking young arms out of our bullpen is about as good an idea as putting a screen door on a submarine. I guarentee we are missing key details here. This move would do NOTHING to help us this year, and as far as I'm concerned losing Hansen and Delcarmen and getting a 30+ hitter alone in return is hurting us in 07 and beyond which - considering the recent organizational focus on the future - makes NO SENSE. I guarentee there is a third team or a player involved that we know nothing about.
  8. Are you and I watching the same Red Sox? Beckett for come back pitcher? Thats a joke. He had a great year last year if he wasn't hurt he would have won 20 games but he won 15 with a 3.35 ERA. Do you know what come back means? Crisp for best glove? Thats a joke. He made one amazing catch and is very good, but Gonzalez is absolutely a wizard and Lowell is does a great Brooks Robinson impression. And to be dissappointed by a player, you had to have some sort of expectations for them to be good. Willie Harris is doing exactly what we signed him to do, be a 5th outfielder and enjoy the ride from the bench. No one expected anything of him.
  9. MVP-- Ortiz, he will make a strong case again for AL MVP. Comeback Pitcher-- Schilling. Comeback Position Player-- Lowell Cy Young-- Papelbon. Absolutely lights out. Best Glove -- Gonzalez. Our left side of the infield is the best of any team I have been alive to see. Best Catch-- Coco vs. the Mets . Biggest Disappointment of a Pitcher -- Clement. He let me down big time. I understand the Beckett thing, but for him there is still the second half and hes 26, has great stuff, and so far is proving capable of handling the work load. There are positives there. With Clement there are none. Watching Clement pitch for the Red Sox is about as comfortable as a prostate exam in public. Biggest Disappointment of a Position Player -- Tek, but he gets a pass.
  10. Mirabelli is said to have a knuckleball almost as good as Wake's.
  11. Don't bother hinting at a Kazmir trade, please.
  12. Guys, he is just out of college. It isn't like he has to come up to the big leagues and pitch next season or even the season after that. His secondary pitches don't concern me in the least. 2 seasons in the minor leagues and I am confident that a guy who can throw as hard as him, and who throws the kind of raw slider he has, will be a very good pitcher.
  13. Well, the philosophy of the team is changing. The Sox have never been a team predicated on defense either.
  14. That folks, is exactly why you do not part with young arms. I would hate to Hansen or Lester throwing smoke in the visiting bullpen at fenway someday when they could be on our staff potentially getting lots of outs.
  15. ESPN Deported? Yeah, thats a keeper. Yeah, it seems like these are high cieling signings. Hanley Ramirez was similarly or less touteed than these guys are. Signing two in the top five is a really exciting thing. Is Laporta still unsigned?
  16. I'm very happy with this signing, it seems to me like this is a no brainer move. Am i missing something?
  17. Young pitching is in most cases very stupid to let go of.
  18. I love Bard's stuff, I think he needs a little coaching and some refining and i think this guy could be a great pitcher.
  19. I think Lester will still be able to pitch well against good teams. When he makes his pitches he is tough to hit, no matter what team he faces. So far, with his back up against the wall, he has made pitches. Its just a matter of settling into a groove, which he never did today. If he can settle in against the white sox, I don't care who hits in their lineup, he will set guys down all night. Lets hope he makes it out of the 6th against them and we can keep our bullpen sharp.
  20. is bard going to sign?
  21. Lester has zero control from the stretch its something he needs to work on, but when he gets in grooves getting the first batter out and he begins to roll, look out.
  22. I was talking about something that happened quite a while ago. Around the time Manny hit his first homerun, he hit two in one game I think, and he was starting to hit the ball well I believe Francona sat him in two games this week.
  23. Thats depth when you can sit your starting 3rd and SS and still put out a first rate line-up. Those are the kinds of substitutions I'm ok with. Sitting Manny in favor of Willie Harris just as Manny heats up... I don't see what Francona does in a move like that. I
  24. This should be a fun as hell game to watch. I'm excited for this one.
  25. I would not trade Lester for Willis. Ever. Lester is a major league ready pitcher of 22, and Dontrelle has the experience behind him, but really talent-wise these guys are on an even keel. Is it worth trading away a guy who has a cheap six years left with us for a pitcher whose only difference is a longer resume?
