  1. I agree he deserves respect for having gone through hell, but what if the way he has handled himself is simply to go back on something? To stop the hell he was going through, to go back to what worked before. Steroids or something similar. We have no way of knowing. To attribute this tremendous improvement to working with Mattingly, and not to consider something else may be involved, seems to me to be looking at the situation with blinders on. If Giambi continues to hit HR's at this ludicrous pace of the last week, a HR per day, suspicions will only get worse.
  2. It's not just the Tampa series the O's have been in a freefall for three weeks. But when I look at the standings we are still just 3 1/2 games out. It seems that no team is taking charge of the AL East this year.
  3. It looked that way for a long time. But really with the wild card even if the Yankees got hot and won the AL East it seems to me that the Red Sox will win the wild card, the way it looks right now. Not that I have given up on the Orioles yet, there is still a lot of time left and when we get our catcher back Javy Lopez that will make a big difference. Still getting swept by Tampa Bay is disheartening.
  4. Check out Camden Yards, the National Aquarium in the Inner Harbor area in Baltimore. Yes that is the best part of the city. But actually I live in Baltimore County although I have a Baltimore mailing address. Baltimore County is huge and lots of nice areas to live.
  5. I've noticed that too, Giambi is getting that bloated look again. The way Sammy has been hitting for my Orioles, I wish Mattingly would work with him to. If he has turned Giambi from a .200 hitting singles hitter to the best power hitter in the league within a few months... I just cannot believe that is the reason. Sammy Sosa 's been working hard as **** too this year but Giambi has something else going for him . I too have noticed that no really big names have been caught not in the NFL or the major leagues. I wish that Congress would take this out of the hands of the leagues and mandate stricter testing that is foolproof. I have very little confidence in the present system.
  6. After the booing, the threats to send him to the minors, the failures at the plate, letting his team down, talk of the Yankees getting out of his contract, Giambi certainly would have motivation to succeed, very strong motivation. If he knew that he could not succeed without some type of help from a drug I don't know if he would have the strength to resist the temptation. He didn't resist before, and it is just possible that he decided to do what whatever was necessary to get back the way he was.
  7. The way the Orioles are playing I might be spending more time here rather than depressing myself on the Orioles forum. We just got swept by the D Rays. If the O's can't win the AL East, GO SOX, beat Yankees!
  8. I don't think there are any players that MLB keeps tabs on for performance enhancing drugs. From what I have read, Yankee Doodle, all players are subject to the same testing, which has holes in it. The MLBPA Union wouldn't allow players to be singled out. Not Giambi, Bonds, or anyone else for special testing. If you have any references to the contrary I'll be glad to see them. For example human growth hormone can't be detected in urine tests only in blood tests which MLB is not using. While everyone deserves a chance at redemption, baseball fans cannot be accepted to accept all these HR records as legit either, not after what we have learned. Congressional hearings and all
  9. Thanks for the welcome. I've bookmarked the site and plan to return. Don't see as much hostility here as on the Yankee forum.
  10. Actually I saw on the Orioles forum one Yankee fan said that he lived two blocks from Yankee Stadium and he definitely thought Jason was back on the juice. He said Giambi has regained the body he had two years ago, the bloated look, etc. When I saw him on TV he definitely looks much bigger than last year. I think steroids helps both power and average by increasing muscle mass and bat speed. Also MLB does not test for human growth hormone which can only be detected by blood tests which are not being administered. So although HGH is illegal in baseball, there is no way to tell if someone is taking it. Giambi was so terrible at the beginning of the year and he is 34 years old. Now suddenly he looks like Babe Ruth reincarnated at the plate. Fans are not naive any longer. I hope Congress mandates strict Olympic style testing and next year is too late for me. I'd like to see Giambi tested now.
  11. Five home runs in the last three games. His BA is close to .300, and he is now looking like the MVP he was during the period it was later discovered that he was taking steroids. Just seems fishy to me. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Maybe it is just hard work, regaining his stroke, but Jason brought these questions on himself by his previous denials of steroid usage after he had already admitted it to the Grand Jury, per the San Francisco Chronicle.
  12. Yes I am an Oriole fan but the Red Sox are my second choice in the AL East. If the Orioles don't make win the division, I hope the Red Sox do. I've been an Oriole fans since 1968 the days of Brooks Robinson and Boog Powell, the glory days of the Orioles. I was so happy last year to see the Sox come back from 0-3 and beat the Yankees this was one of my favoite baseball memories of all time!
