  1. You just generally seem more optimistic about this season as opposed to the few days where every one of your posts was "3rd place"
  2. isn't Tom Zbikowski the guy who invented the Jump to Conclusions mat in Office Space? EDIT: After some research, it was Tom Smykowski in Office Space. Close enough.
  3. lol, Heyman is such a Boras schill How does it guarantee two years? If the Sox don't want to $5 mil for Tek in 2010 and Tek isn't happy making $3 mil, then there's no second year
  4. meh, its 2 mil
  5. perhaps or perhaps you were better off trying to sell off some Air Jordans REALZ CHEEP!!!!!
  6. So Heyman and Mazz are conflicting on whether its a one or two year deal? I guess this means Bard is either gone or Pawtucket bound
  7. if its 2/8, its what wouldve happened anyway with Tek's player option for 2010
  8. Cause everyone who creates a thread should ask themselves the following: "Will this topic create healthy, intriguing and productive discussion?" Then, you went ahead with this gem: "Your new first base coach went to my high school. That is all." That's why I'm a prick about it.
  9. February 3rd
  10. If the Sox really believe Varitek gets them $5 million closer to a championship in 2009, why would they stick to today as a hard deadline? Even if he signed the day P&Cs report, what's the difference? He knows the staff and I'm sure he's been keeping in shape. I know Stark is now reporting there never was a deadline but the entire news of a deadline seemed like fluff from the beginning.
  11. I have to seriously consider getting this book
  12. lol @ people believing the deadline is set in stone
  13. I don't get it, why is it ok for players to talk s*** about where they used to play and who they used to play with or play for but it isnt ok for Joe Torre to do it? And really? To go as far as to contractually-obligate someone to not bash the organization after they've left unceremoniously? Talk about petty...
  14. You've really changed your tune from a month ago
  15. I'd say the Red Sox thinking is right along the line of Jacko's, otherwise they just simply wouldn't have picked up Bard off the scrap heap and would've walked away from Varitek a long time ago. But Bard is a pretty good defensive catcher and is known to handle pitchers well.
  16. wow, a new leader at the top of the Who Gives a f*** list
  17. I think the fact that Bard is an obvious upgrade to Cash combined with the fact that Varitek will be making half of what he made last year will reduce his role, should he return of course
  18. No matter what happens, you're looking at a catching platoon this season. Even if they acquired Salty
  19. Right, so you might as well get an OBP guy and accept that whatever offensive production he gives is a bonus
  20. The relevance of AVG all depends on the hitter's spot in the lineup. For the top two hitters in a batting order, AVG is almost irrelevant and OBP is everything but generally, you want your 3-4-5 guys to be able to do more than take a walk, you want them to be able to drive in the guys in front of him
  21. A midge will probably fly up his ass this season and put him on the DL
  22. KICKASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!111!!!!shift+1!!!!!!!
  23. The only recent similar situation was Theo Epstein leaving briefly after 2005 and a lot of people took Theo's side
  24. I think that quote pretty much sums up how Yankee fans and baseball fans should view this situation
