  1. Hrmph. I had my suspicions about El Guapo, but attacking the other guy with innuendo doesn't take away from the enormity of it all. The idea that a chemically manufactured player is responsible for a World Series trip is bad enough, but to think it happened against the Sox is a real pisser. For one, the Sox victory last year was HUGE for MLB, it had more people interested in the sport than I have ever seen in my life. To think that some dude on the juice, had he not been pressured to give it up, could have stopped it from happening last year makes me think this stuff comes dangerously close to wrecking the whole sport. Baseball thrives on ups and downs, not on artificial results, and those home runs just kept a good thing from happening. Where's Old Mountain Landis when you need him? Secondly, I don't know if you know it or not, but Yankees fans are not exactly the most humble or prideful people you will ever meet. Having to listen about those 'clutch' homeruns for like 9 months after the 2003 ALCS and then have it turn out they are Ocean Spray means weeks of my life were wasted respectfully listening to people idolize a remorseless cheater. The man needed a crutch to be clutch and we've had to hear so much it's like a spotch in the crotch - never wanted, always unfortunate and pretty stinky. You wanna know why the curse is gone? Because things like this have Babe weeping. Recordbooks cannot be updated after the fact someone cheated, but it's not going to be the same until someone sets the record straight. Were I a fan of ARod's team, I would seriously think about some recompense on to make up for all the hot air. Banners for 2003 should be removed from the stadium and the recordbooks should be updated with an asterisk. Steinbrenner should be reduced to half-ass-kissing-rations for a day and have to apologize for this farce of supremacy his pock marked, wad-jawed sluggers have going on. Jeter should keep looking cool and try to bring some respect back to that organization because it's so bad I can't even fake being impressed by the pinstripes any more. M
  2. No. Should I? For that matter, would you? M
  3. Word up. Seriously, I think the world of Trot but I also thought the world of guys like Gabe Kapler. Would love to see everybody get lots of plate appearances. M
  4. Remember Giambi's 2 home runs in the 2003 ALCS? You know, that is the case why steroid abuse should be dealt with harsh, they can change the outcome of the championship. Schilling is not on steroids. Some teams have gotten to the series on the backs of steroids. And people don't accept cheap apologies for that. M
  5. Yeah, I tried to not like the movie but the trailer has me thinking about it. Probably won't wait for DVD. M
  6. Hmm... I think it's John Halama. Represents management's thinking about depth and potential. Let's say everything goes wrong with Kim, Wells, Miller, and Shilling. There are so many possible starters you could still have a complete front 5. And I think Halama's ERA will go down in Fenway, Tropicana Field was made for stupid home runs. M
  7. New to this board but not the Sox. I have been a fan since I was 6 and can remember watching games going back to first grade. Last year, I decided to pack up and move out west only to miss the greatest season ever. I'm kind of afraid to move back East, might screw things up. Of course, Vegas was probably the second best place to be during the ALCS - someone offered me 50 to 1 on the Sox for game 4. M
  8. You know, I kind of think Nomar said that because he would have preferred to win the ring with the team. I don't want to pretend to understand what the emotions are like being with a club that long and being traded mid-season only to see your former teammates go on to wint he World Series, but that's life. I hold no grudge against a competitor who finds a ring to be less thrilling because he wasn't there at the end.
