Well on Spotify, you can still download individual albums, but you aren't directly paying them for it. They're just basically an intermediary between artists and listeners

IMO it's not dead, but it's seen better days.

It's funny how the word "album" as evolved into the meaning of a specific grouping of songs.

We identify with albums though. Just think of the Beatles albums. Every one of them seemed to have its own identity and importance.

But there are still 'old school' albums coming out on CD and vinyl.

I still have many albums, including a white vinyl double album of The White Album.

I just need a working record player, now.

I'd say expanded, but maybe some of the younger generation only know the more recent, narrower meaning.

I agree. It's definitely expanded. Many of the best albums today really introduce you to the artist on a deeper and more personal level. That aspect is something that has remained timeless to me.
