    Trades?

If you were Breslow, which player(s) would you trade for this year?

Mike Trout - has no trade, signed through 2030 (38)
    Pete Alonso - FA
Alex Bregman - FA (partial no trade)
Paul Goldschmidt - FA (no trade)

Trout seems to be going no where with that $200 mil still owed, but he would be a get and would be perfect for Fenway (if we could unload Story as part of the deal). He hasn't been healthy for 5 years. Could a change of scenery improve that. Probably.

Alonso has a perfect swing for Fenway. The Mets could unload him.

Bregman has a nice career OBP. He's a solid hitter. He's 30. Similar OPS as Devers.

Goldschmidt is another solid player at 36. He could play 3 more years.

And while need help at 2nd and SS and OF, the team is rudderless.

I'm going with zero, as part of my new policy of realistic expectations.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Even if we are buyers, none of these names are even close to a target I'd want.

Also, OF, 3B, 1B and DH are not our high need areas, even as jsut rentals.

We need SP'ers and middle IF'ers.

    More likely, we sell.

    None of the above.

I reach out to the Jays and see what they would want for Bassitt. He's only under control through next season unlike Gausman, so a short term guy that's not going to help a rebuilding squad.

Kick the tires on a Luis Robert deal.

See if LAA will sell low on Drury for the year.

Brandon Drury and his .470 OPS seems like more of the same. A shortstop makes more sense while letting Hamilton and/or Grissom play 2b…

    WOBA 215
    XWOBA 299
    BABIP 207

I think there's a bit of bad luck there and we've seen him turn it on in the past. It's just for the rest of the year and it's why I said "buy low."

    With LD/GB/FB splits of 18.1%/59%/22.9%, I agree a BABIP of .207 is very unlucky…

Rather than look into Drury, what about the recently DFAd Cavan Biggio?

I'd take him on a waiver claim for sure.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd take Drury.

    Pros and cons to each.

Drury is normally the better player, however.

But if I’m want to improve the middle infield for the Sox, I’m not looking for a 2b…

What can we realistically get for Pivetta & Jansen?

We could maybe add O'Neill and Martin, if they are showing value, or even McGuire, if a team needs a catcher or back-up catcher.

Maybe a package of Pivetta, Jansen and McGuire can get us a decent ML ready prospect or two.

Biggio only has 1 MLB inning at SS. He's really a 2B/3B/corner OF.

    Also, Biggio is LHB.
