    1. Promote Meidroth and make him the everyday SS. This would give the Red Sox lineup a patient hitter, the new greek god of walks.
    2. Trade for a right-handed batter who can replace Yoshida at DH. I want Guerrero, but I guess he will be too expensive to acquire.
    3. Trade for a Starting Pitcher.

An I the only one who thinks that Yoshida is a huge problem? Do we need to be more patient with him?
He wasn't a problem in the 9th inning Sunday night

We may swap a lefty bat for a righty one, but so seriously doubt we trade even a top 9-20 prospect for offense.

We need SP help way, way, WAY more than anything else. Our best pitchers are already nearing or passing their career high IP totals, and we are not even half way through July!

IMO, we won’t trade a top 8 prospect and may not trade a 9-20, either.

    When exactly do you mean?

Of all the starters mentioned so far, I like Anderson and Eflin a lot. Not as wild about Eovaldi, simply due to his reliance on the 4-seam fastball.

Kikuchi is another name I’ve seen mentioned…

    No, the draft.

Essentially impossible. I should have switched my sentences, and that hypothetical makes more sense

    Sox should buy

What's up with the 1-8/9-20 delineation?
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

    1-7 ain’t getting traded. 1-5 I don’t see and Perales/Cespedes are hurt.

But 8-20 and beyond, they can have a field day and go shopping at the pitcher store and the hitter store.

The Sox need another late inning reliever. Smith is on the IL and Weissert is looking cooked.

Big dropoff after Cespedes at 7 (the upper tier). I wouldn't include Fitts in the upper tier.

The 8-30 tier is closer together than people might think. Portes could move from 29 to the mid teens in a month or two fairly easily.

I'm not sure if trading for Dejong makes sense. The Red Sox might be better off going with Rafaela at SS this year (moves to CF next year) and use trade assets on other players, such as a SP and a right handed bat (a better RHB than Dejong).

Weissert should have been demoted over Booser…

As we know, even crappy hitters like Bucky Dent can hit a HR in a big spot.

Bottom line: Yoshida is a joke of a baseball player this year. He can't field very well and he isn't hitting (86 OPS+). If he doesn't turn it around, the Red Sox need to replace him.

The Sox middle infield is a mess right now…

Booser is a low leverage guy per LI. Don't know if his numbers would stay the same if he was used how Weissert is.
