    No brainer.

    Extend him or trade him.

(We could even trade him, then re-sign him, this winter.)
gotcha. didn't realize he was FA after this season.

My point is, he should net a better prospect than what some are suggesting.

    Jansen, too.

O'Neill and Martin need to show something, first.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

Jansen and Martin (when healthy) should be able to get us two top 25 prospects!

You guys are thinking small. There is no need to trade any of our pitchers. The teams has a bunch of poor offensive players. We have no pop. We need a player who can be a run producing machine. We do not have that. Both Salmon and Alonso fit that description. In division trades aren't going to give us this either. The only other infielder that could be had is Tim Anderson and he's having an off year with the Marlins.

    Tim Salmon retired after 2006.

I assume you mean Mike Trout as the other piscine Angel. But Trout is owed some $228mil over the next 6 years and has only played 237 games from 2021 through 2023…

We're not thinking small, man, we're thinking cynical.

Pivetta and Jansen are going to be traded because the 2024 team isn't going anywhere, it wasn't designed to go anywhere, their contracts expire at the end of the year and we'll get some prospects back for them.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Bo Bichette: having a blah season - .240/.635 - and is a free agent in 2026... if Toronto sells, the Sox have to look into acquiring a 26-year old All-Star hitter with a swing made for Fenway Park. He's not a good shortstop, but neither is anyone else in Boston this year, and can move to second base when Mayer takes over or Story comes back.

Three of the Jays top five prospects are middle infielders, including two at Triple A, so Bichette just may be available. Toronto's outfield is getting old, and can use a guy like Abreu. Throw in Hamilton (having a better year than Bo) as a stopgap SS. Who else?

Bo Bichette's Most Similar Batter: Dick Lundy, who starred for the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants a hundred years ago. Lundy also hit .381 for the Baltimore Black Sox, and played for the Pittsburgh Crawfords, Newark Dodgers, New York Cubans and Newark Eagles. There's always a spot for a good hitter...

Hamilton and Abreu for Bichette--ha ha. Jays wouldn't even pick up the phone.

They're not getting a top 25 prospect, but people over pay for pitching at the deadline, if those guys are pitching well the Sox will get back good value for them.

Tim Anderson has been having an off 3 years. This team doesn't have a realistic shot at a world series, and a small chance at a wild card. Unless things drastically change with Casas, Yoshida+ coming back they should sell short term assets.

Casas and Yoshida are not enough. Health is also an issue for this team. Its main RH power threat is Tyler O, who's liable to be interned in the DL at any given time. I believe with this pitching baseline (never though I would be typing these words in 20 fucking 24), this team can make the playoffs with an impact RH batter, but I doubt they get him.
    WAR is good for something.

This team does not want to try to make the playoffs. They want to sell off, save a few bucks and add some prospects.

Bloom got fired for his deadline confusion. They don't want any of that this year.

The problem is the uncertainty. We really don't know what their plan actually is.
