I’m new to this superstitious stuff. Should I announce or mark posts done purely for that reason?

It is another example of why you should spend big bucks on older pitchers who weren't that good for most of their careers. Montgomery 41-37 with 3.78 ERA for his career. Certainly not worth 20 million a year or anything close to that.
His track record over the past few seasons shouldn’t be erased by a bad 9 start stretch…

He is a .500 pitcher who has had one year with a sub 3 ERA. Not worth the money he was seeking. Sox were smart to pass on him. Give the money to Houck who they drafted and developed.

Once again, 7 righty bats for the Sox, who are going for the series win.
Great work over the last 2 games, Max. A win streak of 2 or more constitutes brilliance this year. But, it's a take what you can get year, and that includes a 3-1 series win vs an uninspiring Tigers team

A sub 3 ERA is a pretty tough standard. He was comfortably under 4 the last 3 years.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Notin, I know you know baseball but not familiar with superstitions ? The baseball mind is full of them. , sort of like the "unwritten " rules , lol.

Sox continue the same pattern of beating the bad teams and losing to the better ones. The good news is that there is no shortage of bad teams, so you can stay in the wild card hunt just by winning those games. Four games coming up with the ChiSox, without a doubt the worst team in MLB.
    Old school is good school.

That is not a tough standard. Its just that people are more accepting of mediocrity today than they used to be. Just like hitting. There are not near as many .300 or better hitters than there used to be. Today, a 3.50 ERA is considered good. 6 innings is a quality start. 200 innings is a milestone. Everything is watered down today.

Once again, Bello not quite ready to start a game, unless he can now get a DP

Ugly top of the 1st that ended well. Bello threw almost everything right down the middle and got away with it despite leadoff single and BB.

On that missed double play, I can't decide who looked worse, Hamilton on the bad throw or Bello cringing at 1b.

Any team that has Dom Smith batting 3rd is a bad team.

Somebody in Worcester taught him something that is working well. Great 2 out hit.

On the surface that is unarguable--and made worse by the fact that both Smith and Cooper are in the game. But Cora knows all.
