I imagine Romy Gonzalez can help cover the position but Valdez will get time there to see if his hitting stays hot.

The roster crunch comes when O'Neill and Yoshida are ready to return , before Casas later in June.

In '75 Lynn and Rice were referred to as the gold dust twins. At this point in the season could Abreu and Rafaela be referred to as the silver dust twins?

Sox are 8-5 since losing 4 straight (May 15-18) to Tampa Bay and St Louis.

Up ahead (after 1 more game vs Tigers) are--

    2 vs. the 32-23 Braves,
4 vs. the 15-43 White Sox,
    3 vs 40-18 Phillies,
    3 vs. 40-19 Yankees.
    Maybe we can hope for...
    1-1 v ATL
    4-0 v CWS
    3-3 v PHI & NYY
    for an 8-4 mark.

    (more likely... the best might be 1-1 v ATL, 3-1 v CWS, 2-4 v PHI & NYY for a 6-6 stretch.)

    I'd be happy w 7-5.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

Reading the recent article on Casas , as he still has pain, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s not back on June 21st when he is eligible .

They certainly should not rush him.

This would have been my question exactly. Even with the injury, is bringing your "starting catcher" off the bench to fill in at second a good managerial move? Not in my world. There must have been someone else.

    Romy Gonzalez.

Not sure why he was avoided…

Cora said he was unavailable, didn't say why.

Edit: Gonzalez has a hamstring issue and is going on the IL.

    There's almost always an explanation.

Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Looks like playing 2B for the Red Sox is dangerous to your hamstrings. If Gonzalez does go IL, Grissom another potential candidate and with Reyes sold to Mets , we are ready for a new face from WooSox or another team's DFA list

Grissom is confirmed to IL as well.
