Not having to bat Cooper and Dalbec was step in the right direction.
I write fictional stories in my spare time. So don't fact check me. Better?

Our right handed bats really need to stay healthy.

What would cost to get Alonso from the Mets?

    11-20 ranked prospect?

He can DH after Casas comes back.

    $8-$10M remaining on his contract?

Not sure if the hype got to him. They've also changed his pitch mix.

It's fine for us to not appropriate grade him, but a big miss for the Sox and his extension IMO.

Sell, Sell, Sell! Sell while the team is floundering, and some are riding high. Jansen, Martin, Pivetta, DHam, and even Duran. Sell em while the going is good. Seems I heard many times this past offseason this year was going to be a Sham, Sham, Sham, so sell, and get back some of those precious prospects that everyone has been clamoring for the last three years.

Fastball/Slider guy. Most likely back end or bullpen guy.

For a team bereft of right-handed power in a park tailor-made for right-handed power, acquiring a guy who averages 45 home runs per year shouldn't be looked at as just a two-month rental.

This is also a club where all it's most-hyped position player prospects closest to the majors bat left-handed.

Even if they all make it and steal 30 bases apiece, a RHH HR DH (once they eat Yoshida's contract) will at least be necessary for a little balance.

How rare is a Red Sox righty who even hit 40 homers in a season? In the past half century: JD and Manny, Rice and Tony Armas Senior... and Rico Petrocelli.

Alonso is nice, but I'd rather rent him than buy him, we already have a gazillion corner/DH type guys. He's a righty, that's nice, but he will be 30 moving forward, and this team has a nack for giving money to the wrong guy. I'd rather find a SS/2B/OF who is a righty, but I'd glady rent Alonso and 1b/DH him the rest of the way this year.

I'd actually love him in the middle of our lineup for a late summer run.

The Mets are only 1 game out of a Wild Card spot themselves. Can't really assume that Cohen is in the mood to sell.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Wish there was a nice RHH second baseman on the rental market.

    Ballpark Factors for Fenway:
    RHB HR - 19th
    RHB 2B - 7th
    RHB H - 3rd
    LHB HR - 16th
    LHB 2B - 1st
    LHB H -3rd

It's a park to get on base and score runs, but it's not a launching pad for dingers. Especially not a launching pad for homers.

I bet the Sox could get Brendan Rodgers from the Rockies if they wanted and just used him as a platoon guy.

I like it. You can platoon him with Valdez, actually you could play him at SS and put Hamilton at 2nd when going up against a lefty.

One thing is for certain, the Sox are playing so well that it keeps some goobers away.
