Good to see Valdez back in AAA. He can't field and wasn't hitting (88 OPS+). He has limited trade value, but the Red Sox should try to move him at the deadline, perhaps some lousy team will take a chance on him and give him some playing time at the major league level.

It would be boring if we all said and thought the same thing.

He had a 961 OPS since being recalled from AAA on 5/29. The problem is not his hitting as he can hit the shit out of a baseball against RHP. The problem is that he also kicks the shit out of the baseball whenever he's at 2B. If they are going to be in the playoff hunt, every out matters and you can't have a guy like that playing a MIF position.

Sox are energized right now. Playing with a lot of confidence. On the other hand, the Yankees look demoralized. Almost expecting to lose.

Valdez can hit major league pitching and makes no money. He absolutely has trade value. Just not to any team seeking a 2b…

    It looks that way!

Over 10% of MLBs top 270 batters are under .590.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

He was hitting after his call up and with similar sample sizes as Romy and DHam over that period.

Mario Mendoza was a career 507 OPS, FYI.

Right, he also took very few walks and had very little power. He was one bad offensive player.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

But his career BA was .215, meaning even Mendoza was above the Mendoza Line…

Ole mister silk hands he was. Manos de seda. I'd take Manos: the Hands of Fate over Mario Mendoza TBH.

Manos: Hands of Fate is two hours well spent when accompanied by MST3K. Not sure anyone has ever seen that movie any other way…
