    Padres declined their option on Wacha. He will almost certainly decline his and become a free agent.
    Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

    The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

    He is definitely declining. He was asking for numbers like in the option (2yrs $32mill) and was rejected by multiple teams. San Diego obviously didn’t want him at that price, but they are also reportedly trying to trim $50mill of their payroll, and that is probably a larger part of why they declined the option. They’d probably love him at his player option price…

    The Blue Jays have hired former Sox stalwart DeMarlo Hale as " associate manager " , whatever that is.

    @JeffPassan
    News at ESPN: MLB owners unanimously voted to allow the Oakland A's to move to Las Vegas, paving the way for the second relocation of a baseball team in the last half century.

    @TalkinBaseball_
    A's won't have a permanent home from 2025 to 2027 because their lease to play in the Oakland Coliseum is up after 2024 and the Vegas move is expected to happen in 2028, per @BNightengale

    A's plan to play in their Triple A park in Nevada, Oracle Park in San Francisco and more

    They need a name-the-new-team contest. Early entries: Aliens. Avacs. Ape Itizers (not Desserters). ExAtriates. Ultra-Maroons. Derelicts.

    The Las Vegas Hoes.

    Seriously, how about...

    The Aces

    The Neons

    The Neon Aces

    They could wear neon-colored uniforms.

    When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

    I know they spent a lot of time in other cities as the Athletics, but they did Oakland dirty. They can't call themselves the A's anymore.

    We already have the B's and C's in Beantown, and the D's were in the World Series.

    Now that they're nowhere, and already making trades, maybe F Troop will deal their WAR leaders, Gelof and Sears.

    Two teams in our division have markedly improved.

    And Orioles and Rays are going to be better with their fame systems.

    At least John Henry is making money!

    Dave Roberts did a lot of talking about Ohtani and the Dodgers. Maybe too much talking.
