    2023 MLB postseason thread

Rangers up 7-1 on Rays after 7.

If the Rays lose, they will have lost 9 of their last 10 postseason games.

Pitchers of record were subjects of much discussion by Sox fans, as guys we "almost signed" this offseason - Eovaldi and Eflin.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Other starting pitchers of interest today for Sox fans, as looming free agents: Sonny Gray, Aaron Nola.

The lesson of the Rays-Rangers series is ... 0.5 a run a game simply ain't enough.

Tip your hat to Eovaldi. We all know the deal with Nate - if his arm stays attached to his body, he's one of the better pitchers out there.

The amazing thing is the Rangers lost DeGrom and Scherzer to injury.

Montgomery and Eovaldi really stepping up.

I’ve said it since the day the Sox extended him (against my wishes) - the problem with Eovaldi has nothing to do with talent…

What? They’re not waiting for their injured pitchers to return!?? You don’t have to do that!?!

Overall the contract was frustrating though given the market for starters, that you got 1.5 very good seasons out of it made it more "meh" than a tire fire of a deal. I would have preferred to roll the dice with him than the Kluber-sort of flotsam. We knew that whatever innings Nate gave were probably going to be good.

I don’t know what sort of offer Boston made. Reportedly it was more guaranteed money than Texas offered, but the Rangers’ contract can be with up to $63mill over 3 with the incentives and options.

And I suppose, like Eflin, it is possible Texas native Eovaldi liked the speak of just going home.

Maybe it’s time the Sox negotiated with some New England natives for once…

Rays have lost every postseason game since the Arozarena popcorn incident against the Sox in '21.

This is where the Red Sox' front office always seems to miss the connection. Aaron Civale, native of Connecticut, grew up a Sox fan. Tampa traded a power-hitting minor league first baseman for him. Boston couldn't do that?

Manzardo was MLB's #37 prospect and already in AAA. Sox don't have that guy.

That was one trade I felt we could have jumped at.

Apparently, that 1Bman was pretty highly, so it's hard to know what we would have had to have given.

The multiple years of control was the big plus.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

Rays fans were conspicuous by their absence for the playoff games at the Trop.

Lowest non-COVID playoff total since 1919!
