Considering neither a full time player anymore, I'd put my money on the guy much younger. Bader vs. LHP is just as good as Duval, if used properly he'd be an upgrade.

But he can't stay healthy for an entire season, I don't want to rely on him starting.

Also, we have plenty of guys who can hit righties, it's good RHB this team is lacking.

Bader is Refsnyder if he could play above average CF defense rather than garbage defense. I guess you just platoon him with Duran?

Trade Verdugo and Refsnyder to free up spots for Bader and Duvall? IDK.

We'll see how much faith they have in Rafaela and Abreu.

They're not starting all of Rafaela, Duran and Abreu, I'd be surprised if two of those guys are starting. Duval isn't a good option to start, giving his age and injury history he should be relegated to a platoon role. He fits the need of a RH-hitting bench bat that can play all three outfield positions. He's actually a good fit for the roster, but he has even splits, even reverse splits at times. That's fine, even preferable for an everyday player.......which Duval is not.

All this makes the argument for keeping Verdugo, you need starters in the outfield.

I could see thinking Rafala, Abreu and Duran could maybe be counted on to fill 2 OF slots, combined, but that could backfire, badly. (LF and CF with Abreu backing up RF)

It could - but frankly I am more interested now in ripping the band-aid off and seeing what you have instead of more half-measures. If the team brings in a stud though that is a different calculus.

Maybe the 2nd year has some weird option or opt outs or whatever?
