If you like, Story’s 0.2 fWAR was still better than Tim Anderson’s (-0.5), equal to Amed Rosario’s, and worse than Javier Baez (0.8). Of course all of them did so in over three times the amount of playing time.

Rosario would likely be markedly cheaper. But Anderson and Baez, if available, are not guaranteed to be. If the Sox make him available, Story is absolutely tradable to a SS-needy team…

I'm a big DD supporter. I wish he could have stayed. I'm not sure how he'd have done under the same budgets and what I call mandates Bloom was given.

I don't think he was happy about the change happening during his last year in BOS.

He was and still is a skilled and very capable GM. It was a loss, and so was the change brought on by the top brass.

Yeah. The man has been in baseball forever. The idea he couldn't helm a reload was daft. Yes he traded his entire farm in Detroit - but his owner wanted that and the approach got results.

I am an NBA fan and I look at how the Celtics have reacted to having a young core that is so close to the top of the mountain - they have decided to damn the torpedos and push as many chips into taking advantage of a championship window. It makes the aftermath of the 2018 Red Sox monster even more disheartening.
