Timlin, Embree and Williamson all gave up 0 runs that postseason. You needed six outs and had 3 other very capable guys to do it.

We'll never know what might have happened had they yanked Pedro. We know what happened leaving him in.
    "Lost on a bloop."

Nick Johnson pops out to SS.
    Jeter 2B to RF
    Bernie 1B to CF
    Matsui Groundrule 2B
    Posada 2B to CF

Embree comes in and gets an out, 0 R. Timlin comes in and gets 4 outs, 0 R. Seems like they should have gone to the pen?

Yes, a total bloop his by Posada to bring in the 4th and 5th runs to tie the game.

Scroll to 9:30 of this video, then get back to me...

That ignores Jeter hammering that ball to right, Bernie hitting a liner up the middle and Matsui smoking that ball down the RF line. That was 3 straight hard hit balls before Posada came up.

It is all second guessing. But Pedro did seem to want out of there. And even the finest automobile will not run if it is out of gas.
    Old school is good school.

In a TV interview years later about Game 7 in '03, Pedro said he was told his day was done, but Little came up to him after the 7th and asked if he could just get one more out: Nick Johnson, who would lead off the 8th. He did... then Little froze.

Of course, this could be yet another case of a Red Sox player misremembering moments of conflict: Clemens in Game 6 in '86, Betts in the offseason after 2019, Sale falling off a stationary bike into a big screen TV...

Pedro also did the heavenward look coming off the field after the 7th.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

It seemed obvious to me and the people I was watching the game with that he was done after 7. We were shocked when he came out again.

I didn't ignore it. We all know what happened. I just pointed out they tied (won) the game (in part) due to a bloop hit.

You questioned Posada's "bloop" hit, then changed the subject.

the other thing was that it was not the first time Grady left him in too long in a deciding game THAT POSTSEASON. It happened against the A's in the ALDS.
