All I can really say is I think he's still a risky acquisition, especially from the PR perspective. The rough sex thing is pretty dicey behavior whether you break laws doing it or not.

No criminal charges ever filed, suspension lifted. There was no reason not to sign him. As you say, Watson was signed in spite of multiple assaults.

The big change in the Bauer case is we now have his side.
There is a "difference" in the Bauer and Watson cases, both in what they did and that Watson's case actually was settled not dropped. Look what the Browns gave HOU just to have the chance to sign him to a mega deal. Yes, the NFL is more lax, but still. Watson's value to another team was off the charts.
I'm not defending Bauer. I'm not saying we should sign him. I'm just saying multiple teams, IMO, will bid on him.

Bauer claimed innocence from the get-go. The dropping of the criminal charges should have been enough to back him up, really.
I think there are multiple concerns about Bauer. He has always had a case of foot-in-mouth disease that he has displayed on social media.
I think MLB teams are nervous that if they sign the guy, more trouble will ensue. Clubhouse cancer and all that. Some players might think hitting a woman is wrong even if it's consensual.
It'll be interesting to see if some team decides to take the leap and how much money they're willing to offer.

It's one thing to claim innocence vs provide evidence that makes it appear you were the victim.
I'm not saying signing him is not risky. Of course it is, otherwise, every team with a hefty budget would bid on him.
Watson proclaimed his innocence from day one, too. The Texans would not play him, even though he was not known to be guilty. Nobody wanted to trade for him, until they heard his side and the case was "settled" with payments made by DeShaun- pretty much an admission he did something wrong.
In Bauer's case, it could be he was wronged. Look, I get the rough sex aspect and how that would play in the media of the signing team. It's not pretty. Not every big spending team will even make a call. I do think 2 or more will.
