In defense of Sandy Leon: Sandy is batting under .200, but he does provide excellent defensive catching. The starting catcher for the Yankems is batting .185 and provides nothing close to excellent defensive catching. He actually sux as a catcher. And his 2 passed balls in the bottom of the 1st helped give the A's a 4-0 lead.

Great, it now requires the Yankees to play .900 to even have a chance at the division if we play sub .500

No one is harder on managers than grumpy old game threaders.

I'm glad I caught the last bit of that game. Wow. I know I'm ready for October.

I'm so happy for Phillips. He stuck it out in AAA, hoping to get his chance. He got his chance, and he made the most of it.

As somebody else said, you can't make this stuff up.

    Great game!
Well put. How can anyone not delight in this one game and Phillips's role in it?

In September, sure, but absolutely not in October because he would be a wasted spot on the roster.

I don't think I've ever heard of him before yesterday. I'm still in shock that some guy I've never heard of comes up and saves the day.

He's a former All-Star - was one of the best 2B in the league. But very much a possibility if the Red Sox carry 11 pitchers on the ALDS roster.

Magic number is 4 to guarantee October baseball.

You know if you asked me a few weeks ago if Oakland could beat the Yankees in a one game WildCard spot I would have said no. But after this series..... I bet you Yankees fans are getting pretty damn nervous

The Yankees look cooked. I don’t think the As will have much problem ending their season.
