Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they hide is crucial. Aaron Levenstein
That's what years of nonstop drug and alcohol abuse will do. Amy Winehouse pretty much just couldn't deal with having lots of money, like a lot of stars in the music industry. I know what its like to fight the urge to spend spend spend when you get large sums of money, but that's just on stuff like clothes and better quality food. Imagine those large sums being like a piece of toilet paper to you. You can get clothes, jewelry, but for lots of people that's not enough, so they eventually become addicted to something that is largely negative. Some are into gambling, some are into drugs, some alcohol, some a combination of those things and of course there are other addictions.
Addictions are absolutely terrible, because it's so hard to quit them without some sort of intervention. You go through extreme depression, pain sometimes, etc. Most people don't understand how hard it is to stop yourself from doing something that has become habitual.
