The scientists don't have a handle on this virus, but we are supposed to believe that moron politicians who can't count without using fingers and toes know what is best for us and will act in a non-partisan fashion. Politicians always act in a partisan way --always. It is who they are. And their actions are directed toward pleasing their donors first. Their constituents are only a concern at election time. Every crisis is an opportunity for them to get richer and more powerful at the expense of the little guy. You may consider yourself a Democrat or Republican or libertarian or socialist, but if you have to work for your survival , you are all in the same boat -- neither party gives a shit about you. But they'll have you arguing about masks, the environment, racism, religion and on and on... dividing you into camps and promising that they can improve your lives or save you from the victimhood that they created... and millions are foaming at the mouth in anger and hatred at their neighbors and fellow Americans. We have been played for suckers for a really long time.

As non-partisan as this post is (it is just a generic complaint), someone does need to point out it opens to door to enter some dangerous ground and re-create the awful experience known as the Talksox Political Thread, aka the Volcanic Dumpster Fire of Talksox Past. Hopefully anyone responding treads extrelmey lightly...

Agreed. I'm regretting making my initial comment, even though it had nothing to do with politics. I should have realized that it would open up Pandora's box

Just the fact that no single politician or party is named does not mean it's not political.

I agree with the majority of my fellow posters. We don't need the COVID/political nonsense on here. There are far better places to rant on the matter.

This is a Red Sox board with an Off Topic forum that acts more like a meet and greet than serious discussion. Anything that could be considered semi controversial, should just go elsewhere. We just don't need to talk about COVID on here anymore. We beat that horse into the ground and it was miserable. I don't believe anything remotely concerning politics or the government should be discussed as it's just not healthy for this place.

Now maybe Emmz can come back and we can continue our discussion about if the Ramones really were a punk band or what is or is not crossover metal. That's really as controversial as this forum should be getting.

Politics simply cannot be discussed in a calm and civil manner. Perhaps that is unfortunate , but it is very true. In my own family we will joke about politicians , but if anyone tries to start a serious political discussion the subject is immediately changed. And we have certainly seen what it can do to a forum like this. Everyone needs to resist the temptation . Leave it alone.
