That's right, I didn't follow the thread title format. You know why? Because the shit ends tonight. A Sox loss combined with a Yankee win is like a rain storm because the worms come out. You can see it with the return of Gom and others of his ilk.

So, it's time to stop the rain.

Long as I remember the rain been comin down.
Clouds of mystry pourin confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, tryin to find the sun;
And I wonder, still I wonder, wholl stop the rain?

I went down virginia, seekin shelter from the storm.
Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow.
Five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, still I wonder wholl stop the rain?

Heard the singers playin, how we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together, tryin to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin, fallin on my ears.
And I wonder, still I wonder wholl stop the rain?

Curt will stop the rain, that's who. Today, we go to the old war horse. Old blood and guts (and bloody socks). This is a big game, and while Beckett may be the ace of the staff, Curt is still the big game pitcher. Today he shows it again.

Considering I said I was going away and I didn't get to enjoy our series win over you, yeah, it brings me out of the wood work. Once again, intelligence and ORS are foreign to each other. I hope you guys lose again, just for that comment. I am using my anti-Sox mojo just because of you ORS. If you guys lose, especially a close one, it was you incurred the wrath for your team and caused your inglorious defeat.

Same story every time, Gom. Same story. When they lose you're tougher to find than a straight chick at the Lilith Fair. "I was out of town", "I was going out", "The dog ate my computer". Not buying. And, if you were going, then why are you here? Words betrayed by actions once again. You are what you are, worm-boy, and everyone can see it.

So if we start ripping wins again and put it back to 14games or so, will you go away again?

Once again, intelligence and ORS are foreign to each other.

All i can take from this is either:

A-You are brand new to the site

B-Rational thought escapes you

C-Your hatred for everything redsox overwhelms your normal brain functions

No, no one else is saying that. You said it yourself: "I'm giving rep points trying to regain my reputation." That's sucking up Adam. You get good rep by being a contributing member who posts legibly (and given a keyboard, I'm surprised that you still can't do that). You state the obvious in every one of your posts. You don't have thoughts that you come up with on your own. All of your posts are 3 sentences at max.

It's not so much Schill that bother me today - it's the sorry state of the offense. 2 runs in the past 2 games. That's just sad. It shouldn't be a matter of guys being tired, either. They just had an off day on the 31st, and another one a week before that. Yes, there was a tough homestand against the Yanks and then a flight to the West coast, but come on. Schill will give his all and step up (as much as he is able - that game against Cleveland not withstanding I'm still not totally convinced he can bring it like he used to), but the O needs to start hitting again to get this crap turned around.

Oh. My. God. You are so beyond repair. FOLLOW ME. You get negative points because you do NOT contribute. You make a fool out of yourself. Every single one of your posts is bad. Other people have bad posts, but they have 100 times as many good posts as bad posts. You have JUST bad posts. I don't know how to tell you how to do better, but whatever you're doing now is obviously not working. You've been nice giving people good rep because you hope you'll get it in return. You will NOT GET GOOD REP IN RETURN FOR DOING THAT. You will be taken more seriously if you CONTRIBUTE. All you do is state a fact. As in, JD Drew has to start hitting. You really believe that's worthy of praise/respect? That's a terrible post. We all know he has to start hitting. You have to read every single post in a thread, and continue the discussion with unique and informative thoughts. You do neither.

It's frustrating, but all of the Yankee games went on for a long time. They landed in California at 6am pacific time and had a game 13 hours later that went 12 innings. They're tired, and understandably so. They're also in a terrible, terrible slump. Tonight SHOULD be the night that they break out of it, so hopefully we'll see it. I'm not worried about much yet considering that our lead in the division allows for a slump, which all teams go through.

Besides, I'm looking for Schilling to come up huge tonight. He's had enough and I think he's going to give us a great outing to stop this skid and let us go into interleague play on a positive note, where we should rape the NL teams and get back on track.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone knows who rep points came from. From what I can tell when I've looked at it, it doesn't tell you who gave you what rep in the User CP. So, my advice to you, adam, is give good or bad rep as the post warrants, not to build bridges because nobody knows it came from you.

Phew! That sports flash on WEEI got me worried as I was driving to work. Lineups have been announced, Pedroia is the only regular getting a rest.

Even with Cora batting (and Dougie last night)... Crisp is still batting 9th. I think its safe to say after a week, Crisp's new spot is 9th. Soon enough he'll bat himself out of the lineup altogether

No doubt, no doubt. I've just seen too many fast starts for this team followed by a massive swoon. Am I a pessimist? Oh, yeah. I hate seeing Sox blood in the water, and the other AL East teams are better than the sub-.500 ball they have been playing so far. The gap is going to narrow before the end. I'm not hitting the panic button yet, I mean 9 games up is a fine place to be going into June, but the dog days are coming and, like you said, it would be nice to go into them on a high note.

Off topic, I was reading through the first few pages on this thread and I had an idea I thought I would throw out there. If it's possible, maybe you guys should turn off Adam's rep because he seem's really concerned about it, when it really doesn't mean that much.

1. Youkilis 1b

3. Ortiz dh
4. Ramirez lf
5. Drew rf
6. Lowell 3b
7. Varitek c
8. Pena cf
9. Lugo ss

While i think the consistant ab's for ceranno would be great, i don't know if i want him in center everyday (although it's better than right). Coco's made some game changing plays out there!

Yea, I wouldn't mind that. I love Coco's defense, he has saved a few games with his glove, but he can't get anything done offensively. It's reaching that point. WMP has been showing progress at the plate and in the field, so I'm down with WMP starting more often.

4-pitch walk to Ortiz. Nice way to start the inning. Lets cash in on walks for a change. Blanton is getting up there in his pitch count and Manny has been swinging well against him. Put up some crooked numbers.

TedWilliams101

I'm pretty sure it just means no hits or walks. I could be wrong, but I don't think an error counts. I'll check.

A perfect game is 27 up 27 down, and no one gets anything (H, BB, E, HBP, etc.).

ORS
06-07-2007, 03:57 PM
Perfect game is nobody on base. Lugo ruined it. And that is what I was alluding to in my post about him not surviving the home crowd if he doesn't start hitting. He just took a potentially historic moment away from the hero of the '04 postseason. If Curt goes on to finish what's possible, Lugo better start hitting, or the heat will get pretty strong.

A-You are brand new to the site

C-Your hatred for everything redsox overwhelms your normal brain functions

What I can take from what you said is this:

A) You are in love with ORS, and probably believe everything he says. In fact, I would gather that you have his most favorite quotes in a journal of some kind, and read them right before you go to bed.

B) If I'm drunk, and she's single, yes, I must admit, I often do not have a rational thought process. Here, however, is another story.

C) Considering how many posts I have and my join date to this site, I wouldn't consider myself new. I would, however, consider you clueless.

Of course I come here to needle, jab, etc. I also have fun, see the other side.

See, the whole thing about sports is that they are usually played by two teams. Strange to fathom, but usually, for whatever reasons, usually geography, people pick a team and support them. A lot of enjoyment usually comes from arguing, debating, etc., over the quality level of the two teams. Among the fans, this is called a "rivalry".

Now, sometimes, this rivalry becomes too much, and violence settles in. However, that is not the case. Usually it is a friendly banter back and forth, and from this most people take pleasure from it, they enjoy the atmosphere of the rivalry. I am from this school of thought.

Unfortunately for you, not everyone supports your team. It is probably beyond the scope of your little brain to understand why, but that's ok.

I mean, admit it ORS, it is a fantasy of yours that everyone roots for the Red Sox. Maybe all the other teams can disappear, and the Red Sox win the World Series year after year. All the hitters hit 1.000 and all the pitchers have ERA's of 0.00

Very painful to know that the day of the draft that Julio Lugo costs us the 20th pick (and possibly Rick Porcello), he's the one that makes the error that allows Shannon Stewart to come up in the 9th inning and break up the No-No.

What's important is that he was able to bear down, not be effected in an adverse way after giving up the hit, and get the final out. That part was certainly impressive in my eyes.

One of the best games I have ever seen pitched...TOTAL control from start to finish. I am really deflated though..I was getting chills the entire 9th inning...I really wanted this for Curt and the team. I guess that's what happens when you shake Tek off...but he pitched a his tail off..he should make the call. Wow..that was really close to being a perfect game.

Not me. We won and the Blue Jays lost. We gained a game for the first time in days. Oh, I wished that Curt had thrown a no-hitter because I love Schill but while he might feel some disappointment he has to understand that he wants to be the ace of the staff and or the stopper and he proved why he is just that. Besides, he looked very upbeat in a post-game interview and talked about how important it was to win the game. I really believe that the win was more important to him than the no-hitter.:D ::D :D :D :D :D :D

Great stuff you bring to this board

He pitched a great game, and it was a legit hit not some swing bunt single off the end of the bat. If you are going to be pissed with a win and a dominate outing to snap a losing streak are you really a Sox fan? & last I checked Shannon Stewart is in the Majors and lets see you get one pitch by him.

Yes it would have been nice, but all that really matters is that he shut 'em down in a 1-run game and was able to stop the streak. Thats all I care about, the W. Metro, you're getting it right; just keep it up. Winning is what it's all about. The no-hitter is a personal thing; the win is a team thing. That counts more. Like if the Dodgers are able to beat Jake Peavy tonight, it would be the upset of the season considering the stiff they are throwing against him.

We'll, today Coco made a HUGE play that could have been the game. It's a tough decision. Either you go with the great glove and speed of Coco or the deep threat of WMP. Today, I think it's Coco that would have made the difference. He made that important catch that could have meant the game at that point. You could very well argue that if WMP played today instead of Coco, we could have lost the game. Either way, its a tough decision and I don't mind who plays. In a perfect world Coco would be swing the bat well, but it's not a perfect world.

As long as the pitching is there, you can win the close games (SD won on Tuesday with only two hits in the entire game). Blanton only allowed four hits in the game today, and had it not been for Ortiz's shot, they might still be playing.

Why don't you just play Pena in the outfield every day? Pena is much better than Crisp at the plate, and, contrary to popular belief, he is not that bad a defensive player either. I think I remember awhile back Crespo posts the stats to prove that. You wouldn't really need to add Bigbie to get more offense when you would have an outfield of Ramirez, Pena, and Drew.

It's the same with Kevin Brown's no-hitter against the Giants 10 years ago. I think the only thing that separated it from a perfect game was a HBP. Yet we still talk about it that way.

Schilling got closer to a perfect game about 6 years ago when Ben Davis bunted with one out in the 8th to break up the perfecto.
