Member Of The Week

So, we've decided to institute a new "member of the week" award here at talksox. Check your profile page and you'll see an "awards" field (I have awarded myself member of the week for, um, test reasons so you can all see it in action).

Basically how this will work is all of the mods will get together and decide, on sunday, which member has contributed the most to the forums over the past week. This does not mean in terms of post count so don't go spamming away to win this award. It is all about quality. Are your posts well written? For example:


Like, OMG, DA YANkeez sux0rz my balsak LOLOLOL
will not be considered a good post. However,

I think that the yankees will not advance beyond the first round of the playoffs. They simply do not have the pitching or the momentum to carry them......
is a good post. In general, if you make long, quality, well punctuated and spelled posts, you are a candidate for member of the week.

We will give these awards every week on Sunday, even during the offseason. And no, you don't get any prizes or money for winning these awards, they are just an ego boost.
:D Although, if we are looking for mods, the more awards you have the better the chance you may become a mod.

I have an idea on how to chose the meber of the week. Why don't we make a poll each week, the mods can decide who should be in the top 10, it'll go for 24 hours, and then, whoever has the most votes wins. Then just delete the poll after the winner is decided. That way it's a limited democracy instead of an aristocracy. If you don't like it, don't rip my head off. ;)

Exactly. Capitalization also helps, and you need to have a smilies to word ratio of at most .1 to qualify. :rolleyes:

You need to write quality posts that have opinions, not these 1 liners. Spelling and punctuation is a pretty big plus as well.
