He was 80 years old. He was only 57 when he last served as Commissioner. He seemed older to me. I never forgave him for overturning the Rollie Fingers and Vida Blue sales. A closer was exactly what those Red Sox teams needed. Those of us who remember that Rollie actually dressed in the colors, but never played in them will always ponder what might have been. Bowie also was not at Hammerin Hank's record-breaking game. He was a boob.

He also banned Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle. And he also didn't want the Yankees to attend Thurman Munson's funeral.

i remember the photo like yesterdayYes, he was, but he eventually played for us when he had nothing left in his tank.
