I'd guess 5 games, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was more.

I voted 5-6, but 10 seems like the reallity. I hope it's 5-6.

10 games? Milton Bradley did the same and got 4 games. I would think Ortiz would get 4 games or less

I thought I heard three was the most likely number.

as much as id like to agree with u, 6+ seems more like the reality. there is no excuse for what he did, like milton bradley, but what milton bradley did didnt come close to harming one of the umpires. david ortiz was pissed off and he threw two bats that almost hit an umpire, thats what i think is gunna get him 2-3 games more than 4.

this all sounds a little bit high if you ask me, or maybe im just hoping it is a small suspension. i think that milton bradley's throwing of balls was musch more severe than ortiz so im guessing it will be less than 4 games, besides the ump was being an ass, he called that wicked late timeout and messed up pedro, and he called a ton of balls, proof of this is the fact that pedro threw like 50 or somethign "balls" , plus i dont think that the bats hit any umpires or came close, they landed along the 1st base line

no, the bats landed about a foot away from one umpire. u cant blame the home plate umpire for ortiz throwing bats, thats just unacceptable. u can blame the ump for ortiz getting steamed up and yelling, but u cant blame the umpire for getting ortiz suspended...ortiz got himseld suspended, and even though milton bradley caused a lot of clean up, the bats almost hit an umpire, and ur right they landed on the first base line...where the umps were standing!!!!

well the bottom line is that he will not get suspended a whole lot of games

Look for a 5-6 game suspension reduced to a 3-4 after Ortiz contests it.

whats gunna help ortiz is the attitude he has displayed most of the season. people need to realize that is not the real ortiz that appeared, even though what he did was inexcusable. i heard that luchino (sp?) was talking to the MLB and he described ortizs personality and his characteristics. i also heard that because of these facts, it is possible that it may be only a 2 game suspension. hopefully he can just take it off now vs baltimore and hope it doesnt cut into the yankee series.

I doubt that it will cut into the Yankees series. If the announcement is made between now and Friday, he will appeal and there's no way that appeal will be decided upon by the end of the series.

Well it was 5 and I say we're lucky it's not more.

He'll appeal and maybe get it to four games.

The good news is that he'll appeal it now, and be in uniform for the Yankee series. We need David to be in the lineup and be his usual, Yankee-killing self.

i hope he can appeal and take off one or two games. he is a huge player for the sox and we desperately need him at this part of the seasonin order to turn it around

I bet you $teinbriener would pay Everet 15 mill a year and sit him on the bench jsut to prove him wrong in that statement. Oh Yeah Our owners need to start opening up the pocketbooks.
