In another sign of the positive state of the Boston farm system, left-hander Jon Lester -- the club's first draft pick in 2002 -- was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year. With Double-A Portland, Lester led the league in both ERA (2.61) and strikeouts (163). He threw three complete games.

I remember a few years ago the Red Sox had nobody in the farm. Now they have one of the better farms in the league. Good job by the Sox scouting department.
