What trades do you guys think the redsox will do before the deadline. I know its a while away but who do you think we'll aquire this year. Hopefully not another Saurbeck or whatever or a Suppan. What do you guys think about this.

i dont know who but i think the redsox will add depth to their bullpen and bench

There bullpen is doin great io dont think they will do that but i agree about the bench we need a new utility so we can drop crespo to sarasota (where i live) but we should get a new better utility like LOUUUUUUU

i acknowledge the fact that the bulpen is on fire, but i still think more depth could be used. not a major acquisition but a good, established veteran who could help in our run for the championship

They should definately get another bat for the bench...

Another bat with some power off the bench would be great. With Burks gone (and who knows how long) we have no right handed pop. And Daubach just doesn't do it for me as the lefty bat. Luckily he's a utility player or else he'd still be down in Pawtucket. If there was a slugger out there that could be acquired for relatively little money or for a reasonable trade I'd say go for it.

I agree a good new bat would be a great addition to the bench.

Either a second baseman (although I dont see how getting one would be possible) or a good utility guy off of the bench who can hit decently.

why wouldnt it be a possibility?

I don't see why you think the Sox need to upgrade their 2B situation. With Pokey and/or Bellhorn we've got a good defensive tandem here. And shit, if Pokey keeps hitting the HR's... :D

He wont though, and bellhorn isnt good

I said it wouldnt be a possibility because of a couple of factors. The most obvious being that there aren't many good second baseman available. The ones that are good would take an arm and a leg to get, and I wouldn't want to deplete the minors to get a guy like Soriano.

Plus, there's the cost factor. Salary. The sox need money for this offseason, so taking on any remotely large contract could mean the difference between resigning Pedro or not resigning him, or Tek or Nomar or Lowe (he's gone no matter what, but thats another story). Now that I think about it, Reese is fine. No need for a second baseman. Just more depth off of the bench I guess.

The Sox don't need to trade for a bat with pop on the bench. Andy Dominique is destroying AAA pitching and is a Craig Wilson type player who can play C, 1B, DH and even a little 3B if necessary. If push comes to shove after that, Youkilis can always be brought up after that.

I really don't think that the Sox need to trade for anything, barring a major injury of course. This team is set for a championship. Just let the offense get healthy and our entire team consistent and we'll dominate.

bellhorns great, he has been one of the most consistent sox this season in terms of getting on base

He's ok but his offense doesnt offer a lot. His OBP is double his AVG. He will lose a huge amount of playing time when Nomar comes back because Pokey will be Poked in at second

Yea its gonna be a hard choice when nomar come back...both pokey and bellhorne are playing good baseball...reese playing better defense...and bellhorne with the rediculous OBP....we'll just have to wait and see....either one will be great off the bench...

look at this team...we have 6 starting pitchers...all great pitchers...and we have two new guys come to the team that arent really known for there offensive and start off having a good offensive season....this is great!!!

This is a very good problem to have.

They don't need to trade anyone at this point. Things are going just fine, this team is going to be even better when two of the most important players on the team return to the lineup. I can't see Theo messing with this team right now.

Right. We really have no weakness. For a while it seemed like the offense was poor, but that changed quickly now didnt it?

I'm sure some small cracks will begin to surface over the next month or two, and maybe a small trade for a bench player or a bullpen guy might happen, but nothing major. Like I doubt the sox would trade for Beltran.

Does inconsistency count as a weakness? We trouce the Royals 9-1, and then we go and get trounced ourselves.

Well, I think that all starts with a certain starting pitcher whose head is in his wallet and not on his game...

Do you think its more him or his agent? You never know how much control an agent has over a player, and its something thats troubling. Are players themselves the greedy bastards, or is it their agents? Is it a coincidence that ALL Scott Boras clients clamor for more money all the time?

I think not. Agents suck, baseball would be better without them.
