In V-marts 2 games as a catcher for the Sox, Sox pitchers have allowed 23 runs, 10 to the orioles and 13 to the yankees. Is it a coincidence? Yes Buchholz pitched and has struggled and yes smoltz blows, but could this possible be V-mart not calling as good as a game as Tek?

They might just not be used to him behind the plate. He was supposedly a good game caller in Cleveland, according to their media people.

It's something to look at. I hope not of course, especially if it might mean we wind up stuck with Tek long into his decline.

Lets just keep this on Smoltz. Don't give Theo any ideas to keep him.

Interesting fact:

Who was the catcher for the last two AL Cy Young winners?

Victor Martinez.

I hope you're not serious. The pitching has not been good long before VMart.

The real concern is they are stealing Tek blind every game.

While that was one of my concerns about getting Martinez (not that he isn't a good pitch caller or anything, but rather it would take a while to get used to the Bosox staff) we have to give him credit here. He's only caught 2 games and they were with Buchholz and Smoltz pitching. Not only this, but they were against the O's and Yanks, two very good hitting lineups. If that wasn't enough, they were both on the road at Camden Yards and Yankee Stadium, which are both very much hitters parks, which is quite an understatement for the Launching Pad formally known as Yankee Stadium.

I think we need to wait some time before this idea can earn any merit.

I think it's more to do with the pitchers, then it is with V-Mart.

Smoltz and Buchholz is to blame
