Okay it's time to start winning again, and it starts in Seattle. Let's fucking do this.

Location: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington
Game Time: 10:10pm EST (7:10 Pacific)

Scouting Report

Red Sox: Colon performed exactly how Boston wanted him to heading into his last start against Kansas City. After having his contract bought from Triple-A Pawtucket earlier in the afternoon, Colon gave up two runs in five innings while striking out four. He hurled 74 pitches in the outing while sprinkling six hits throughout. And while he didn't hit the high-90s velocity he did during his dominant years, Colon managed to escape jams in the third and fifth innings. Lifetime against the Mariners, Colon is 12-10 with a 4.40 ERA. But he tends to pitch well in Seattle; the righty is 8-1 with a 2.17 ERA at Safeco Field.

Mariners: The young right-hander, whose start was pushed back two days because of a calf injury, has pitched better than his record indicates. The 22-year-old has allowed two or fewer runs in six of his 10 starts but takes a three-game losing streak into his start against the Red Sox.

Okay I got a good feeling about tonight's game. Mostly because the Mariners flat out suck. So win it, and win it again.

This will interfere with the Celtics game.

I guess that's what commercial breaks are for.

Well after watching this pathetic Seattle team play the Yanks, I would expect to start a new winning streak tonight! Colon is probabaly still on a pitch count restriction, so the bullpen could be a factor tonight.

can we just win a fucking game on the road?!

oh, and for anyone who wondered what Andre the Giant wouldve looked like in a Red Sox cap...

You know for Colon's size, and age, he's actually quite an accomplished pitcher. Granted he's probably nowhere NEAR his old self, nor will he ever, he's still got a great career record.

That aside, fuck his career, we need him now. Pull of a win Colon.

From the Globe:
SEATTLE - Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis was scratched from tonight's lineup because of a pain in the top of his right hand. Youkilis said he doesn't remember how he hurt the hand, but he decided he couldn't play after taking batting practice.

The injury, which Youkilis said he started feeling last night, is day-to-day.

As a result, Youkilis, who was going to bat sixth, was replaced at first base by Sean Casey, who bats eighth. J.D. Drew is now hitting sixth, Varitek seventh, Casey eighth, and Lugo ninth.

Useless knowledge, tonight is Manny's 2,000th career game.

Decent first inning from Colon.

The Dustball
05-26-2008, 09:22 PM
Colon looked goooooooood. He hit 96 with the fastball to Vidro. If this guy doesn't burn his arm out this year, he could be huge for us down the stretch.

Thumper

Manny hits 499 tonight.

Manny doesn't hit 499 tonight.

Nasty K by Colon, his first of the night.

2 Ks and Colon is looking great thus far.

The Dustball
05-26-2008, 09:34 PM
Very nice inning for Colon. 23 pitches thus far with good velocity. Ok Let's score some runs!

I missed Lugo's at-bat. What happened? What was the pitch count?

The Dustball

Seriously Fuck Lugo. WORK THE COUNT.

Swung at the first pitch and hit a grounder to third.

Ah, the usual.

There should be a new symbol for Lugo's at bat. A giant U for "the usual."

Shitttttttt. Colon in trouble.

The Dustball
05-26-2008, 09:45 PM
Good, now finish this inning. Why is everyone so agressive at the dish tonight? You would think that Seattle would try to drive Colon's pitch count up and get him out early, but they seem to be willing to let him hang around for awhile.

05-26-2008, 09:46 PM
GODDAMN that Pedroia!!!

All-Star.

Thumper
05-26-2008, 09:49 PM
They need to stop swinging so early in the count. When they have paitence they play better.

McLaren was befuddled and lost this one for the M's. Sending Felix out in the 8th should have been on a batter by batter basis. Once Casey singled, he should have pulled him. He was right around 100 pitches at that time and should have been more cautious. Then again, with Putz throwing crap and Morrow being groomed for the rotation, I am not much surprised.

Naw that guy was in the low 90's and he had shut the Red Sox down. Now I think they should have pulled himm after Pedroia's hit. However, they shouldn't have walked Papi imo. Either way its a win for the Sox!

mj
he had 92 pitches with 2 outs and pedroia hit a warning track double that shouldve been caught...he walked ortiz then manny hit an opposite field rope that ehh i dunno, may have been caught if they played him deep,it 1 hopped the wall..
i think the kid was snake bit
lets talk about colon getting ichiro with 1st and 3rd in the 7th??
that was impressive
the mariners are the biggest disappointment in the al,san diego is in a similar mode in the nl...both teams have the pitching to win now,why they suck so bad and contine to fail late in the games is a mystery to me....

Fuck Ichiro. Dude goes balls out to get Varitek's shot, and lets a fucking bloop drop in with minimal effort against the Yanks.
