Can't believe I was beaten to this thread.

An older article from the ProJo:

http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/sp_bb_lester30a_10-30-07_6E7LRJF_v9.33df151.html

“When I look back to where we were this time last year,” he said, shaking his head slowly, “we were in Washington [State] and Jon was going through his third session of chemotherapy. It was the worst time of my life.”

Life couldn’t have been better for Lester’s son, Jon, back in the summer of 2006. Called up to Boston in early June from Pawtucket, he was rolling along with a 7-2 record in late August when he received stunning news — he’d been diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma.

Cancer. The Big C.

Suddenly, W’s and L’s didn’t seem so important.

“His mother, Kathie, and I tried to instill in him that there was never any doubt he was going to beat it. But, honestly and truthfully, I don’t know if I could have done what he did.

“Even when he was sick, even after throwing up, he’d go out in the garage and throw. He said: ‘I’m going to be there in spring training.’ ”

I was there for Buchholz's no-hitter. I have to say this was a cooler moment.

Congrats, Jon.

At the risk of coming off like a total cheese, I have to say that last night was one of best nights I've ever had in front of a screen watching baseball. I had never seen a no hitter as it happened before, having missed Clay's last year to attend some function that I can't remember at all. I'll always remember last night.

Congrats Jon! You're the goods!

Lester was amazing!! He pitches very well when he works fast. I'm so glad I was able to see the entire game. Jacoby makes the $$$ play! Very nice TEAM offense!

I love Jason Varitek!

WHAT THE FUCK?

I MISS BUCHHOLZ'S NO-NO, AND AGAIN LAST NIGHT I MISSED THE GAME TO MEET WITH FRIENDS...

I get up this morning, open the sports section to check the box scores and standings, and in big font it reads "LESTER THROWS NO-HITTER!" All I could say was "WHAT!?"

I CAN'T believe for the second fucking time I've missed a no-no. The las Sox no-hitter I saw was Hideo Nomo's some seven years ago.

Congratulations to Lester none the less. He's come from a lot to make such great accomplishments. Wonder what he'll do next.

Did you also hear that this was the fourth no-hitter Varitek has caught?

That says something about Varitek. Because I do agree that great pitching comes from great catching.

Dude, whoever lives closest needs to go over and kick Thumper's TV. When he doesn't watch, good things happen.

Maybe I've watch it too many times but did anyone else notice NESN clearly getting Josh Beckett hugging Lester and dropping the F bomb?

"Unfuckingbelievable"

I love Josh Beckett. All he does is use the F-word.

I think Kilo had an avatar once that had the camera catching Beckett combining both the F-word and the C-word. Impressive.
